About Lighthouse

Lighthouse is a Brighton-based arts charity championing young people aged 16–30 to shape the future of the creative industries. For nearly 40 years, we’ve supported emerging talent, especially those facing systemic barriers, in developing as artists, producers, and creative leaders.

Our programmes place power directly in the hands of young people, pairing digital innovation with community-driven practice to build equitable pathways into the sector.

Black Lives Matter

  • Lighthouse is committed to taking action to be actively anti-racist
  • This is an ongoing, life-long commitment to drive change in our industry and wider society
  • The whole team are working to educate ourselves and open to discussions and feedback

Lighthouse's commitment to anti-racist action can be read in full here.

Pathways Not Projects

A four-year national programme that creates long-term pathways for young people

Pathways Not Projects is a bold new national initiative, a four-year programme redefining how the UK’s creative industries discover, develop, and sustain talent.

Instead of short-term fixes, we’re building long-term, inclusive pathways for young people from underrepresented backgrounds, including those with care experience, low income, or invisible disabilities.

Building on our Future Creative Leaders work, Pathways Not Projects transforms a proven model into a nationwide initiative to reshape opportunities across culture.

Lighthouse Young Creatives

Empowering young people to kickstart their creative careers

Lighthouse Young Creatives is a personal and professional development scheme for young people in Brighton & Hove aged 16-25 who aspire to work in the creative industries but face exclusion through lack of access and barriers to participation.

First launched in 2018, the scheme equips participants with the skills, confidence and connections they need to enhance their employability, entrepreneurship and future career prospects through a six-month programme of production skills training, business development support, mentoring, showcasing and networking.
