Esther McElwee: Audio-Visual Installation Residency
The Lighthouse Project Space residency will provide Esther McElwee with the necessary space and materials to explore the presentation of audio-visual installation works. Esther’s work merges both digital and physical animation techniques to create visuals inspired by awe and wonder in the everyday. Having created a wide range of video art, the residency will give Esther the opportunity to work on the presentation of her work by experimenting with different materials and technical set ups.
As part of this exploration Esther will design the arrangement of her audio-reactive installation Parting Clouds. Parting clouds is an installation created in collaboration with harpist Eva Lunny and will be open for public viewing over the final days of the residency. This special residency has been programmed by Lighthouse Future Creative Leaders (FCL).

Funded and supported by Art Fund’s ‘Reimagine Grants’ and Chalk Cliff Trust, over the year, participants will co-curate programmes, select participants for mini-residencies, and recruit their successors, all while exploring alternative governance structures, accountability, and power-sharing.
