ABOUT THE WORK

VIDEO: FINDING FANON TRILOGY
In the film trilogy, Achiampong and Blandy examine the politics of race, racism and decolonisation, and how these issues affect their relationship to each other. Their conflict is played out through scripts that meld found texts and personal testimony. Navigating hidden and traumatic stories that connect the past, present and future, Finding Fanon questions the promise of globalisation, becoming a search for authenticity in a radically interconnected yet ambiguous world.

VINYL PROJECT: FINDING FANON SEQUENCE

Larry Achiampong has been working with audio for the past ten years, and has produced three vinyl records that traverse the art gallery, online, archival and domestic contexts using originally built scores, sampled audio and field recordings. In Finding Fanon Sequence Achiampong and Blandy have collected a number of the collaborative synth-based compositions from the Finding Fanon films, interspersed with segments of the narrative, creating an audio version of the Finding Fanon series. This is being launched at Lighthouse as a 300 limited-edition run gatefold double LP, pressed as a two-tone black and white vinyl.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

In Larry Achiampong and David Blandy’s collaborative practice, they share an interest in popular culture and the decolonial position. They examine communal and personal heritage, using performance to investigate the self as a fiction, devising alter-egos to point at their divided selves.
