Light+ Last Dance

The Light+ podcasts introduce extra voices, opinions and perspectives to enable deeper understanding and exploration of our programme. The first season focused on Last Dance – a timely investigation into the rapid changes affecting UK club culture, led by 2017-18 Lighthouse Associate Artistic Director and influential Grime DJ and promoter Elijah.

Episode 1

In episode 1, Elijah talks to DJ and club culture historian Bill Brewster. To make sense of the future it’s a good idea to look at the past – Bill takes us through the early days of club culture in the UK and beyond.

Episode 2

In episode 2, Elijah talks to Sarah and Marnie from New Scenery, a platform for women and non-binary DJ’s and producers to showcase their talent, whilst working towards a safer, more inclusive future for clubbing.

Episode 3

In episode 3, Elijah talks to entrepreneur and advocate for the night-time economy Deano about doing things your own way – and doing it properly.

Episode 4

In episode 4, Elijah talks to madison moore, a cultural critic and creative director of OPULENCE, a London-based art-collective and queer techno party – centring black, brown, queer and trans bodies on the dancefloor as well as in the DJ booth.

Episode 5

In episode 5, we turn the tables and put Elijah in the hot seat. In this conversation with Lighthouse CEO and Artistic Director Alli Beddoes, Elijah reflects on Last Dance and his time at Lighthouse.
