Our Future Creative Leaders Bring Bold Ideas to Brighton’s Streets with BUILDHOLLYWOOD Partnership for We, The Change

“We, The Change is more than an exhibition—it’s a declaration. Our cities' young creatives aren’t just imagining better futures, they’re building them. From the walls of our project space to the billboards on Brighton’s streets, this proves that art can be both a mirror and a megaphone for the times we live in. It’s urgent, it’s bold, and it’s just the beginning.” Bobby Brown, Creative Communities Producer

Lighthouse is proud to present We, The Change for Brighton Festival 2025. A dynamic youth-led exhibition by our Future Creative Leaders, exploring art's power to drive meaningful change. Running from 1 - 18 May at the Lighthouse Project Space in the heart of Brighton, We, The Change showcases the next generation of creative talent, using artivism as a catalyst for social impact and conversation.

We are also bringing We, The Change beyond the gallery walls and into the heart of Brighton and Hove through an exciting partnership with BUILDHOLLYWOOD, experts in creative street advertising. Our Future Creative Leaders have designed a series of public interventions—provocative questions and bold statements —that will be displayed on billboards across the city. These striking visual statements will challenge, engage, and spark dialogue among the public, turning Brighton’s streets into an open-air canvas for ideas and activism.

The locations of billboards are all in Brighton. Click the links to see their exact locations: Beaconsfield Road, Ditchling Road, Surrey Street, Roundhill Crescent, Coombe Road 17, Coombe Road 18, 63 Lewes Road, Gloucester Road | Over Street.

“We are so pleased to be providing a platform for Lighthouse’s Future Creative Leaders who will be using our spaces to display important and thought-provoking messages on the streets of Brighton. The creative spirit of our cities thrives through the voices of emerging, young talent. Supporting this talent is key to not only aid their journey but also fuel the city’s vibrant future.”
Khaly Nguyen, Marketing Director at BUILDHOLLYWOOD

The BUILDHOLLYWOOD collaboration launched on 7 April and runs until 25 April. Lighthouse encourages everyone to seek out these billboards, inviting the city’s residents and visitors to engage, reflect and share their experiences online using #WeTheChange and tagging Lighthouse’s social channels.

We, The Change is a testament to the power of young voices in shaping cultural and social narratives. By merging exhibition spaces with the urban environment, our Future Creative Leaders are redefining the ways art can influence public consciousness and inspire collective action.

Brighton Festival takes place from 3-26 May 2025

ABOUT FUTURE CREATIVE LEADERS

Future Creative Leaders (FCL) is a 12-month paid programme offering young creatives from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to work closely with Lighthouse's leadership team to explore various aspects of creative leadership. Funded and supported by Art Fund’s ‘Reimagine Grants’ and Chalk Cliff Trust, over the year, participants will co-curate programmes, select participants for mini-residencies, and recruit their successors, all while exploring alternative governance structures, accountability, and power-sharing.

The programme partners the FCL members with Trustee Buddies, providing them with essential finance and governance training. This mentorship aims to integrate FCL more closely with Lighthouse's Board of Trustees, setting a precedent for similar organisations across the cultural sector to follow.

Throughout the year, participants will document their governance experience creatively, sharing their insights and learnings with the wider sector. The culmination of their efforts will be showcased during Brighton Festival 2025, offering a platform to highlight the impact and significance of the programme.
